Sometimes, We Cry

I sit, quietly

They cry as they begin to plumb the depths of the fears holding them back

Saying out loud the things they wouldn’t even let themselves acknowledge before

I ask, softly - what’s here?

The deep, shuddering breath tells me we’ve only dipped below the surface

I sit, quietly

Holding

Holding on

Holding space

Holding them

There’s more here to explore

To find the shape of

To feel the heat of

To experience the pain and joy of

We are not beings of singular emotion

We are not one thing or the other

We are all things

We are light dark and all that come between

We are heavy as the ocean light as the breeze

We are high low in out up down middle

We are the storm and the calm

We are beings of infinite emotions

We find our power in embracing it all

You are discovering this

The tears fall more slowly now

What’s here now?

Relief

Sadness

Forgiveness

Self acceptance

Relief

Grief

Joy

Acceptance

Relief

I sit, quietly

Holding

Holding on

Holding space

Holding you

As you explore the infinite in you

You are not alone

You are strong

You are beautiful

You are whole

You are powerful

You are human

You are infinite

You are

And it is enough

We cry

Experiencing the indescribable beauty of you

We sit, quietly

In awe

In gratitude

In peace

In connection

We laugh

The joy of feeling truly seen

Bubbles up

And spills over

We laugh until

We cry
